Bhimteka - The ancient rock shelter of Bhima

Bhimbetka
is a group of caves located in the Raisen District of Bhopal, India. These caves known for their rock paintings, which are estimated to be between 30,000 and 10,000 years old, are some of the oldest examples of rock art in the world. The paintings, which date back to the Mesolithic period, depict scenes from the daily life of the people who lived in the area at the time. These depict a variety of scenes, including animals, hunting, dancing, and religious ceremonies.

The caves are named after Bhima, a character from the Indian epic Mahabharata, as it is believed that he took shelter in these caves during one of his journeys. These were discovered in 1957 by archaeologist Dr. Vishnu Wakankar. Since then, there have been extensive studies and these have become a popular tourist attraction. In 2003, these were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the most striking things about the Bhimbetka rock paintings is their sheer size. Some of the paintings are over 100 feet long and 50 feet high, making them some of the largest examples of rock art in the world. The paintings are also notable for their vibrant colors, which have been preserved surprisingly well over the millennia.

In addition to the rock paintings, Bhimbetka also has a number of other interesting features, including ancient rock shelters, which were used by the people who lived in the area. These shelters provide valuable insights into the way of life of the people who lived in the region. Its rock paintings offer a glimpse into the past and provide a valuable glimpse into the lives of the people who lived in the region thousands of years ago.

Overall, Bhimbetka is a fascinating and beautiful site that offers a glimpse into the distant past. Whether you are a historian or just someone who appreciates art and culture, a visit to Bhimbetka is sure to be a memorable experience.

How to Reach

Life of a Call Center Employee

Alarm at 2:30 AM woke me up. Went to brush my teeth and grabbed a cup of tea. 10 minutes later, the cab driver gave a miss call. By 3:00 AM I was on my way to the office. The Australian shift (Or the Graveyard shift) pissed me off a lot. Used to get dressed and then sleep so I could wake up and board the cab that early in the morning. Most " Call Center Employees " would have gone through the trauma called Graveyard shift at least once in their career. This is a tale of one of them - "I". Most of you probably know how good we are (people from Bihar/Jharkhand/UP) in spoken English. Not because we never learnt but because we never practiced in the real life. For us, English was an optional subject and clearing it in the exam was not even mandatory. From that kind of environment to an International BPO - as we call it - was a tough journey.
